Shameless season 8 moving forward as Emmy Rossum closes salary negotiations
The actress who is famous for her portrayal of Fiona Gallagher in the TV series Shameless is asking the makers to hike her fees in comparison with her male co-star William H. Macy. “Television on her behalf, reminding them that he could always walk, too?”
Sources told The Hollywood Reporter Rossum had an offer of equal pay on the table, though whether or not she received more than Macy is unclear.
Some more good news: remember when I said that “If Macy really wants to exercise his clout, he should be speaking to Warner Bros”. Do you think the actress will get what she is requesting? The series, starring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, airs Sundays on Showtime. So for much of the following season, the show’s focus was Rossum’s Fiona. “Shameless” is produced by Bonanza Productions, Inc.in association with John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. However, the show can’t move forward without a deal or a decision being made.
He recently renegotiated his own wage for Shameless, and was asked by TMZ this week if he thought his on-screen eldest daughter deserved the same. Even Macy had nothing but respect for Rossum standing strong during her pay negotiations.
In a new post on Twitter, Rossum herself confirmed that she has signed a new deal to return to the Showtime series, and that she will return in May to work on the upcoming eighth season of the show.
In the hit USA version of the British comedy drama, William H. Macy and Rossum play father and daughter, and the Oscar-nominated star, 66, recently renegotiated his pay deal with production bosses at Warner Bros., increasing his salary, which was already more than the rest of the cast. The network has decided not to renew the show until they have resolved the issue with Rossum’s demands. Jennifer Lawrence, Robin Wright, and Meryl Streep are just a few of the women who have spoken out about the pay gap in Hollywood.
