The holidays are looking bright and merry for Snapchat users, as the app released their new update on Tuesday revealing four new features, including the ability to create a group chat with friends. As the name implies, this allows for a group chat to take place that can involve up to 16 friends. The new feature also includes ways to quickly start 1:1 chats with members of the group. The company has called this as Quick Chat and it is probably the fastest method to keep up with a conversation that is ongoing with one friend without having to spam the whole group. Alternatively, you can add your snap to your “story”, a 24-hour collection of all your snaps that’s broadcasted to the world or just your followers. According to Refinery29, there are also two new creative tools namely, scissors and paintbrush. Paintbrush, meanwhile, lets you draw on snaps in the Memories section.
The new update is incorporated into a broader feature implemented by Snapchat.
The social-media player cut a deal with Shazam, under which users can identify a song playing nearby by pressing and holding on the Snapchat camera screen. You can also use Bitmoji, stickers, voice, and video notes in the new feature.
Shazam has more than one billion app downloads, hundreds of millions of active users globally and more than 2,000 verified artists.
