Can Dak Prescott lead the Cowboys to the Super Bowl?
Prescott opened the game completing his first nine passes to seemingly stave off the controversy and calm the crowd.
With that being said, here are some of the keys to victory for the Dallas Cowboys in this matchup.
Two of the youngest QB’s in the National Football League will be chasing the rock around the field and the odds are stacked in the favor of Dak who took over for Cowboys’ injured starter Tony Romo, 36.
After losing a close contest last week to the Giants 10-7, the Cowboys are looking to get back to their winning ways against a feisty Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that has surprised many with how quickly they have developed into a contender.
“You can make it as simple or as complex as you want to make it”, he said Monday. Winston is clearly developing into a “franchise” caliber quarterback, but it is still just his second season and without the luxury of a consistent running game he is still prone to making the types of mistakes that young quarterbacks make, namely taking chances by forcing the ball into contested situations that he should avoid. Coach Jason Garrett is steadfastly standing by Prescott.
The fourth-round pick from Mississippi State completed just 17 of 37 passes for 165 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions against the Giants. On their opening drive, Winston connected with Adam Humphries for a 42 yard touchdown pass, before leading an 81-yard drive to give his team a 20-17 advantage, courtesy of a ten-yard throw to tight end Cameron Brate. Dak Prescott, meanwhile, hasn’t thrown for 200 yards in any of his last three games as defenses continue to figure him out. But with score tied 3-3 to start the second quarter, he lost it as he was sacked by defensive tackle Terrell McClain, and the fumble was recovered by Maliek Collins at the Tampa Bay 14. “We just need to keep winning games”.
When Tony Romo was injured and the Cowboys were rattling off win after win, there wasn’t much grumbling surrounding America’s Team.
Winston had done a good job of protecting the ball during the winning streak.
“Clearly, he was seeing things well”, Garrett said of Prescott. Bailey connected on another field goal that gave the Cowboys a six-point lead.
If you told somebody before the season that Tampa Bay’s visit to Dallas would not only be flexed into “Sunday Night Football” but hold significant playoff implications in the NFC, you would probably draw a few amusing looks.
Tampa Bay’s longest unbeaten run since 2002 is turning heads, but the Bucs aren’t getting caught up in the hype. “My dream is that the National Football League would fine the daylights out of me and I’m going to take them to the Supreme Court and we’re going to get the Salvation Army a lot of notice”.
“Lavonte, I think, has had a solid season”, Smith told the Tampa Bay Times. The playoffs are in view.
The Buccaneers: Second-year quarterback Jameis Winston has played well during Tampa’s recent run and he travels well. “We’re not really trying to look forward”. But a holding penalty, coupled with a sack of Prescott by Williams Gholston, led to Bailey’s 56-yard field goal attempt that was short, giving the Bucs good field position near midfield. “I’m going to keep fighting, and I’m not anxious about not fighting”. Dallas most likely isn’t going to pull Prescott as a starter, even if they do fall to Tampa Bay Sunday night. The Bucs rank No. 19 in Tds allowed, having surrendered 10 rushing Tds on the season.
