Iredell under freezing rain advisory
On Saturday, about seven centimetres of snow is expected to fall on Montreal, with freezing rain beginning around midnight.
A mixture of light snow, freezing drizzle and sleet is expected to turn to light snow by late Saturday evening. He said by 11:00AM, sleet and rain will mix in with the snow.
Other areas under the same advisory include Erie, Lorain, Hancock, Seneca, Huron, Wyandot, Crawford, Richland, Ashland, Marion, Morrow, Medina, and Wayne counties.
Snow showers will continue through the day. With upwards of 4 inches of accumulation expected in North Jersey, along with some ice accumulation, travel will bevery messy for at least the first half of Saturday.
Iredell County is under a freezing rain advisory along with much of the western part of the state, the National Weather Service announced Friday afternoon.
After the changeover, the precipitation is expected to lighten up as a dry slot moves in from the west early this afternoon.
“The glazing of ice will be especially hazardous since it will be hard to tell exactly how slippery roads are”, the warning reads. Highs on Friday will only reach 32 degrees. So cold, in fact, that the National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory for the Milwaukee area, which has been experiencing windchills – unsurprising, considering windchills dipped well below zero last night.
Several inches of new snow fell overnight on the metro Detroit area. By Monday morning, frigid temperatures return, with lows between -18C and -25C (0F to -13F) in eastern Ontario and southern Quebec.
“I may be out on a little limb here, but with strong high pressure centered overhead, snow on the ground, clear skies, and light or no wind, it could happen”, the Channel 13 forecaster said.
