Collusion Alleged Between Trump, Russians, Clinton Campaign Chief Podesta Says
In attempting to turn Russia’s malicious interference in the 2016 presidential election into a weapon against Donald Trump, Democrats have instead provided an excuse for the new administration to dismiss the whole thing.
President-elect Donald Trump doesn’t think so, and perhaps he is right.
“It’s very much unknown whether there was collusion”.
“What did Trump Inc. know?”
“There are clearly failures on our part to give people in rural areas or in exurban areas a sense day-to-day that we’re fighting for them or connected to them”, he said. Podesta said. “Were they in touch with the Russians?”
The chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign told “Meet the Press” Sunday the hacking of election related emails, which he claims was by the Russians, was the political equivalent of the 9/11 attack on the U.S.in which almost 3,000 Americans were killed, the worst foreign aggression on the USA mainland by a foreign entity in history.
“The Russians were trying to elect a lap dog”, Podesta said, referring to a recent article by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof.
We began the show with the news that the Russian ambassador to Turkey had been shot in Ankara.
This doesn’t mean I want the U.S. entering into war, but we must protect our sovereignty and security. Either way, they stand to lose face among the voters.
A month later, the US used the latest incarnation of an old Cold War communications system – the so-called “Red Phone” that connects Moscow to Washington – to reinforce Obama’s September warning that the USA would consider any interference on Election Day a grave matter. Given the seriousness of the charge, it sounds prudent to have an investigation, and Republicans and Democrats are calling for it.
Mr Trump tweeted: “If my many supporters acted and threatened people like those who lost the election are doing, they would be scorned & called bad names!”
“There’s no doubt they were interfering, and no doubt there was a cyberattack”, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee added.
Was Trump an active participant in the Russian effort to discredit the Democratic candidate?
The Democratic Party has become a niche party, and their message was targeted to identity politics, pledging to support certain groups of Americans, but largely ignoring the majority.
Actually, on October 7, the Obama administration officially accused Russian Federation of attempting to influence the election in a statement made by the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Homeland Security.
Obama and other Democrats scrutinizing Russian Federation appear to be motivated by political opposition to Trump, who has made favorable and often controversial statements about Putin and the USA relationship with Russian Federation. At home, a Secretary of Education who doesn’t believe in public education; a Secretary of Energy who wanted to close the Department of Energy; an administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency who is suing the agency; a Secretary of Health and Human Services committed to dismantling the major programs of the agency, including Medicare and Medicaid.
