She made her film debut in comedy Shampoo in 1975 alongside Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn.

Actress Whoopi Goldberg said: “Carrie Fisher has passed, she was funnier & smarter than anyone had the right to be”.
Appearing on the Graham Norton show earlier this month, she said she thought her revelation had “bugged” Ford.
Catapulted to stardom when the original “Star Wars” was released in 1977, Fisher reprised the role as the leader of a galactic rebellion in three sequels, including last year’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
She is also expected to appear in the upcoming eighth film, slated for release at the end of 2017.
Fisher suffered from drug dependency and mental problems. It became a 1990 film starring Shirley MacLaine and Meryl Streep. “Surrender the Pink”, “Wishful Drinking” and “The Best Awful There Is”, are other books she’s written. In the 2008 book which was turned into an Off Broadway show, she declared she would want her obituary to read she “drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra”. She was also previously married to singer-songwriter Paul Simon.
Fisher, a native of Beverly Hills, California, was the daughter of celebrity parents: singer Eddie Fisher, the son of Russian Jewish immigrants, and actress Debbie Reynolds. Or, if I’m trying to get someone to take my check and I don’t have ID, I wouldn’t say: “‘Have you seen Harry Met Sally?’ Princess Leia will be on my tombstone”. “Otherwise I felt very lonely with some of the issues that I had”. Her mother tweeted on Sunday that “Carrie is in stable condition”.
Posting on her Facebook account, she wrote: “Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and awesome daughter”.
She has given various interviews over the years about her diagnosis of bipolar disorder and addiction to prescription drugs and cocaine, which she admitted using on the set of The Empire Strikes Back (1980). Time proved her wrong, and multiple generations of fans are grateful for her contributions. ‘How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?’
We just lost a great ally for mental health and addiction.
Fisher was born on October 21, 1956 with showbiz – literally – in her blood.
