Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher’s Mom, Dies at 84
“She’s with Carrie”, Reynolds’ son, Todd Fisher, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Actress Debbie Reynolds, Tony nominee and mother of the recently deceased Carrie Fisher, has died following a stroke.
A fan-organized light saber vigil honoring Carrie Fisher was held at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California.
“There have been a few times where I thought I was going to lose Carrie”, Reynolds said.
“It breaks my heart that she is gone”. She later married and divorced businessman Harry Karl and real estate developer Richard Hamlett.
However the two women remained close until Taylor’s death in 2011.
The 60-year-old Star Wars star was being treated in intensive care in Los Angeles when she died.
Reynolds was a superstar early in life. The job required Reynolds to sing, dance, and keep up with both Donald O’Connor and the legendary Gene Kelly.
Reynolds is survived by Todd Fisher and granddaughter Billie Lourd.
Bother Reynolds and Fisher were considered Hollywood royalty, whose work in front of the camera, on stage and as advocates for various causes inspired numerous other performers. Debbie went to be with Carrie.
Carrie’s ex-husband Paul Simon sent love to the actress too, tweeting that she had passed away “too soon”. She was loving, talented, beautiful, unsinkable.
She was the girl next door, but her characters always stood up for themselves.
The last photo posted was of herself and her “Scream Queens” co-stars Jamie Lee Curtis, John Stamos, Emma Roberts, Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin and Niecy Nash. An inspiration on every level. A devoted mother and grandmother, and aunt and great aunt, and friend. “She just had two little kids and I think that there was a lot of empathy, sympathy”, said Kitchen. “Carrie’s waiting for you”.
We send our thoughts to Carrie and Debbie’s family at this hard time.
