Modi may address nation before New Year
Was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-awaited (and feared, for some!) New Year eve 2017 speech a once-in-a-lifetime address that will go down in history for its visionary content? “What India has done will find no parallel in the world”. Questioning the two contradictory accusations, Modi said that Congress’ attack on him was illogical.
“How many people died due to demonetisation and has the compensation been paid?” he said.
He also assuaged the honest people that the government will act as a friend to them so that their difficulties are eased.
Modi called India’s massive demonetization drive, which withdrew 86 percent of the country’s currency bills from the system, “a historic purification ritual” to cleanse the system of tax evasion and corruption.
PM had announced demonetisation on the 8th of November in an address to the nation.
Sources said all Central ministers have been asked to visit at least 10 places and hold rallies and mass contact event so as to convince the masses about the decision to demonetise high-value currency notes. I assure you that these people will not be spared.
“Altogether, the whole exercise has been a case of total mismanagement, administrative collapse and widespread corruption”, Chidambaram added, accusing the government of taking the decision in haste.
Mr Modi said the government is working to restore normal order as quickly as possible, but gave no deadline for this. “This Government is a friend of good people and wants to build on the good environment for the people to return to goodness”, he said.
Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V.M. Sudheeran has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of pushing the country into the hands of unscrupulous corporate entities and black-money hoarders. “The law will take its own course”. Only a handful of 50 people who are Modijis friend.
The PM also used his 45-minute-long speech to announce financial assistance to groups that will be key in the upcoming and crucial election in Uttar Pradesh.
Also, senior citizens will be assured 8 percent interest on their deposits up to Rs 7.5 lakhs.
