Ronda Rousey weighs in at 135 pounds ahead of UFC 207
Rousey could comfort herself with the fact she made a guaranteed $US3 million ($A4.2 million) for her comeback bout, while Nunes’ guaranteed payday was just $US200,000 ($A277,240).
She hasn’t had much success. Thank you, Ronda Rousey. “I know that, and it happened tonight”.
Rousey almost vanished from public view after that loss.
The final UFC ppv event of 2016 airs LIVE from the T-Mobile Arena at Las Vegas from 10 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. PST (8:30 a.m. IST, 3 a.m. GMT) on December 30.
Nunes (pictured celebrating her victory Friday) later said: “I knew I was going to beat [Rousey]”.
“This moment is my moment”, Nunes screamed in her postfight, in-cage interview.
Nunes was a gracious champion, but noted the ring is now hers. “I’m very focused, and I know how I’m going to stop her”.
Nunes needed just 48 seconds to pulverize Rousey for a quick stoppage and validate the UFC women’s bantamweight championship she won from Miesha Tate at UFC 200.
‘I would like to have seen her retire a long time ago. “This is what I want, so it has to be against Ronda Rousey”. Twenty-three of Nunes’ 27 landed strikes were to the head of Rousey (85 percent).
Her Instagram account spoke volumes with a post Wednesday.
“She is the big name in this division”, she said. “Be the champion. And whatever they want to do with Ronda, they can do. I think it’ll be better than the Holm fight”. However, there is one situation where I am pretty certain. The 48-second fight was the fastest any fighter has managed to knock out Rousey. Nunes also weighed in at 135.
RONDA ROUSEY looked to be in incredible shape as she weighed in ahead of her return at UFC 207 today.
Following the fight, Nunes made a strong statement about how it’s time for fans to forget Rousey. I think I only told him that.
The fight was viewed as Rousey’s chance to reclaim her top status after a shocking defeat last November.
Let’s hope UFC 207 was the end of the “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey era, and she goes on to have a positive impact in other areas in her life. What (can you) do? Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Pena meet in the main event of UFC on Fox 23 on January 28. The UFC isn’t even holding a pre-fight news conference this week.
