The Broncos are 8-7 under Gary Kubiak after winning the Super Bowl.
Last week’s 33-25 win against Indianapolis has already pumped the Oakland to go for the title. Broncos rookie Devontae Booker converted his first carry into an 11-yard touchdown run to cap the game-opening drive. He was playing in relief of MVP candidate Derek Carr, who suffered a broken leg last week.
This season also has been tough, with the Broncos missing the playoffs with two first-time starters at quarterback in Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch and a struggling offensive line. “It’s different playing a game for nothing, really”. “I love to work”, he said.
“Right now, I just want to take a break from football”, he said. Backup Matt McGloin will lead them instead. His most recent championship came a year ago when the Broncos won Super Bowl 50. And that is what he deems more important, we’d imagine.
A victory on Sunday would crown the Raiders as AFC West champions and get a first-round bye in the playoffs. Kubiak replaced John Fox, who spent four seasons as Denver’s head coach.
In his 32 years in the National Football League, including his time as a player, Kubiak has been a part of the second-most wins (318) among active head coaches.
After the halfway mark of the season Denver started to fall behind.
Kubiak would move on to coaching following the 1991 season, coaching two seasons (1992-1993) as the running backs coach at his alma mater Texas A&M before coaching in the NFL. He’s a young player that needs to keep going. I wanted to end the year with getting him back on the field.
