Memorial service planned for Carrie Fisher this week
In a tragic turn of events, just one day after Carrie’s death, her mother Debbie Reynolds also passed. “I know she said she just found them”, Fisher said, smiling.
The movie star mother and daughter duo died a day apart last month in Los Angeles. Their lives are chronicled in the upcoming HBO documentary Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, which will premiere this Saturday on the channel. Debbie holds Todd, Eddie holds Carrie.

On Friday the Los Angeles coroner’s office released Fisher’s body to her family.

Debbie Reynolds’ son, Todd Fisher, confirmed the news of his mother’s death on 28 December, and has since said that the family intends to hold a joint funeral, honouring the two late stars. “‘She’s something special, ‘” recalled Stevens and Bloom, whose documentary premieres January 7 on HBO.

They talked about death as well, with Carrie saying she wanted to see the “political horror play out”, with Trump prepped as the 45th president of the United States of America.
“She spoke her mind and spoke her truth in, in this just bold way that, made everyone feel a little bit more comfortable about their own flaws and, felt even more interesting for having flaws”, she added.
Lourd is Fisher’s only child and her dad is talent agent Bryan Lourd, from whom Fisher split in 1994.
The most touching moment, of course, came when Joely remarked that she would be what her niece, Billie Lourd, needed her to be in this time of grief, while also remarking that her half-sister would be sorely missed.
