Brock Osweiler with a great performance as a substitute
This season’s National Football League playoffs will end at Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium in Houston, and the postseason will also begin there on Saturday afternoon when AFC South champion and No. 4 seed Houston faces No. 5 Oakland.
The Raiders were trending towards the Super Bowl just a few weeks ago, but they’ve had disastrous luck at the quarterback position. If he struggles, he’s probably going to get cut this offseason.
If the Texans win on Saturday, I believe Bill O’Brien is the Texans’ head coach next season. For a team looking to win its first playoff game in half a decade, this is a scary scenario for the Texans.
Brock Osweiler will start at quarterback for the Houston Texans on Saturday in their wild-card game against the Raiders. “He has played very hard for us and he has done a lot of different things for us along the front”.
On Wednesday coach Jack Del Rio confirmed that rookie Connor Cook will start at quarterback for the Raiders on Saturday. Savage needs all the reps he can get before making his first playoff start in a week. Osweiler came off the bench and threw a touchdown and ran one in for a touchdown in Sunday’s loss against the Tennessee Titans after Savage went out for a concussion. Back up quarterback Tom Savage got the starting quarterback job after Osweiler was benched during the Jacksonville Jaguars game on December 18. The “72 million dollar man” did a creditable job although the Texans lost 24-17. Despite starting only 10 games, he remains fifth on the team with 60 total tackles and had one interception. He did not throw an interception and also ran for a 1-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
These teams squared off in Mexico in Week 11 with the Raiders winning 27-20.
Cook would be the first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to make his first start in a playoff game. Something’s not right here! Watt missed most of the season, but the Houston defense did not fall apart without its best player. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. on NBC. Houston posted two wins this year over other playoff teams along the way: A Week 2 win over the Kansas City Chiefs and a Week 8 victory over the Lions. From the NFC are Eli Manning of the New York Giants, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers and Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks.
Despite growing anxieties, the Texans have ways they can navigate through what is seemingly going to be a tumultuous AFC playoffs. The two teams split the regular-season match-ups, but Tennessee was just 2-4 in its division games.
Since the Raiders don’t, their road becomes incredibly complicated. Only Green Bay and Atlanta have allowed more points than the 24.1 Oakland lets up per game.
The Dolphins are double-digit underdogs against the Steelers. Granted, they were both home games against the 3-12 Jaguars and the 5-9-1 Bengals.
All that said, I think O’Brien either departs at the end of this season or gets an extension.
