UK Retailer Lists Nintendo Switch With March 17th Release, $245 Price
But what about Europe? Nintendo of Japan, on the other hand, has always wanted Breath of the Wild’s release to coincide with the Switch’s, according to the report. Since then, things have changed. Due to localisation concerns, there reportedly remains a chance that the game may be delayed in the territory. So actual release date has been announced yet but hopefully, it will not end up being so. It was also said that there will be a new “Super Mario Bros.” title from Nintendo that will roll out with the game.
The latest report comes from Eurogamer, which claims that Breath of the Wild could be available in the USA and Japan long before it reaches Europe. That’s a lot of Nintendo Switch information in a small window of time.
Vociferous discussions within Nintendo on launch timings are not unprecedented. The event will take place on January 13 at 9:30 AM EST, the day after Nintendo announces the major details regarding the hybrid console.
It remains to be seen how the new March timing will affect Zelda in Europe.
Of course, there’s nothing official coming from Nintendo at the moment, so we better wait for the reveal as the price could simply be a placeholder. Zelda’s positioning as a key launch title suggests this is likely. Personally, I’m hoping for a Breath of the Wild themed Switch at launch because even if the game hasn’t sparked anything for you, you have to admit the art is lovely. If it is region locked, European fans will have to be patient.
