Hammers unhappy with Payet
Premier League duo Manchester United and Arsenal along with 2015/16 Champions League winners Real Madrid were among the front-runners to sign the dynamic French attacker. Cashing in on Payet, and putting those funds towards a new winger, right back and striker would be good business, and set the Hammers up for a respectable finish to the season.
Slaven Bilic revealed on Thursday that Payet has refused to play for West Ham as they struggle to replicate last season’s swashbuckling campaign amid a testy switch to their new home from Upton Park. “We are not going to sell him”.
“We will carry on trying to keep him, of course, but his attitude will affect the whole team unless it changes radically”.
“We aren’t going to sell him, not whatsoever”.
On the field, although Payet was absent, there was another mercurial Frenchman in action and Yohan Cabaye nearly marked his 31st birthday with a goal for Palace, only to see goalkeeper Darren Randolph keep out his fierce volley. I feel angry. It’s not a money issue or anything.
The exciting France worldwide signed a new £125,000 a week five-and-a-half-year contract with West Ham last February.
“Let’s get serious. I have a situation with a player”. So the contract doesn’t mean anything now as far as the club is concerned.
Dimitri Payet a signed a contract until the year 2021 in February last year. The manager questioned the player’s commmitment and said the club won’t sell him.
“I’m not closing the door on anything”, Payet told SFR in late December.
In a clip captured by West Ham supporter Jamie Abel, some could even be seen spitting on the claret and blue top directly in front of the turnstiles at the stadium. “But everyone knows my attachment to this club and I speak very highly about (the club) because that’s what I think”.
“If I was Bilic, I’d get the best price I could for him and I’d kick him out”.
And Bilic was eager to put the spotlight on the players who proved their commitment to the club, rather than the wantaway midfielder whose image outside the stadium needed a steward to protect it from potential vandalism. The French worldwide dwarfs the creative statistics from other Hammers, even while giving half the effort.
He hasn’t played this year.
