British MPs Demand Trump Dossier Inquiry
BuzzFeed, said Trump, was a “failing pile of garbage” and CNN was “fake news”. But the file was used to prepare a two-page appendix to the intelligence presentation U.S. officials gave to Mr Trump last Friday.
In telltale fashion, anonymous USA officials, citing anonymous intelligence agents, are leaking like a sieve to the reliably receptive corporate media “unverified reports” alleging that Russian spies have “compromising” personal information on Trump. But now that he has been outed as the writer of the Donald Trump memo, with its scandalous claims, he has suddenly become one of the most wanted people in the world.
He accused United States intelligence agencies of behaving “like Nazis” over the leak of the dossier after details were included in classified briefings to the president-elect and to President Barack Obama.
The president-elect rubbished the claims, saying Steele was a “failed spy” while the British prime minister Theresa May sought to distance the government from the former agent. The exchange is said to have taken place at an global security conference in Canada last November. The news media is made aware of this and can now report the unverified and unsubstantiated information it had previously ignored. “You’re overrated. Fake news”. If Trump is prevented from taking office or impeached, the most benign of results may be President Pence. Steele eventually turned information he gathered on Russian Federation to the FBI’s New York-based Eurasian Task Force in a 2010 meeting in London.
“God, I’m loving this press conference”, Alec Baldwin as Trump said. The Russian goal is “to corrode democratic norms and institutions by discrediting the electoral process and to tarnish the reputations of democratic governments in order to establish a kind of moral equivalence between Russia and the West”, wrote Thorsten Benner and Mirko Hohmann last month in Foreign Affairs. “We also spoke about how Mr. Trump may find himself in a position where there could be an attempt to blackmail him with “kompromat” (compromising material) and claims that there were audio and video tapes in existence”.
The classified briefings last week were presented by four of the senior-most USA intelligence chiefs – Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, FBI Director James Comey, CIA Director John Brennan, and NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers.
It looks as though the Russians not only helped Trump win the national election, but succeeded in humiliating the US intelligence services while making it appear to the rest of the world that the Three Stooges are now in charge of America. Now we have more fake news that Russian Federation has compromising tapes of Trump with prostitutes.
Trump and President Obama were briefed on the dossier’s content as part of a larger intelligence report on Russia’s alleged interference in the election.
Trump has said that intelligence agencies determined there was no truth to Steele’s finding.
Senior officials could not confirm media reports at the weekend that reassurance has been sought by London from the CIA that the identities of British agents in Russian Federation will be protected in shared intelligence, with concerns about links between Mr Trump’s team and Moscow.
A growing number of British lawmakers appears frustrated by what they argue is stonewalling.
The dossier has been circulating among USA journalists for more than six months. Later, the Wall Street Journal identified the dossier’s author as Steele. Following the conversation, McCain passed the dossier of lurid claims to the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the reports said.
