200K expected for Women’s March on Washington
They have invited people “of all genders” to gather “in London as part of an worldwide day of action in solidarity”. She told Newsbeat that previous year saw a “tipping point” in people’s involvement in political and social issues – and that the march is reflecting that change. The list is updated daily, and anyone without a sister march in their city still has the option to host one if they’d like.
As women and New Jerseyans, we want to communicate some of the reasons the marchers will descend on our capital on January 21.
Instead, they want the march to be an umbrella for many smaller causes. “That is not far fetched as far as I am concerned”, Barley said.
“We unite and stand together for the dignity and equality of all peoples, for the safety and health of our planet and for the strength of our vibrant and diverse communities”. “I think mothers have that responsibility, for their daughters, to stand up for that; but we have that responsibility as women to stand up for ourselves too and I think that’s what this does to some degree”.
Although the USA election and the Trump inauguration are events south of the Canadian border, the entire world will feel the impacts of those events, said the Guelph women heading to Washington.

Collins runs Lotus House, a Miami shelter for homeless women and children. “We’re just people who care about the rights of women, of the LGBT, of immigrants, of people whose rights might be in danger”, Marshall said.
Trump’s scepticism about climate change and his intention to make abortion illegal are most troubling, she said.
Using the #WhyIMarch hashtag, other participants and supporters have been tweeting about the importance of the marches happening around the country, and what inspired them to participate.
