Google is testing instant applications for Android
So it’s only natural that Monday’s updates to the Android and iOS Google Voice apps are focused on beefing up the messaging side of service. For example, when tapping on a result in Google search, that link could load you into what looks like a complete native app to perform whatever basic functions you’re looking for. Android’s numerous apps should go a long way in helping to increase the functionality of the Chromebook line. The company has worked with a small number of developers in order to bring this new way of accessing content closer to Android users.
Today that silence was broken, with Google announcing initial live testing for the Android feature. Google Voice now more stylish, included with many more features like group chat, photo sharing, voice mail transcriptions. The company also mentioned a few steps developers can take to get their apps Instant-ready. With a feature like Instant Apps, you’d be able to access the feature-rich app experience without installing it. In this sense, users using Google Voice through Hangouts will not need to switch to new applications, but if they do, they would benefit from the continuous improvements that Google promises to offer. Android users will get three tabs on top of the screen, and a standard Android compose button on the right corner. Android Instant Apps can display content without having to download applications.
Going forward, we’ll provide new updates and features to the Google Voice apps. With Android apps coming to Chromebooks, at least some computer makers are hoping that will change. Well, Google says that they’ll still be issuing updates for it.
Google Voice was an ambitious project through which Google aimed to give people a phone number that’s their own, anywhere and any time, on any device. You can share it with us using the comment box below.
