Donald Trump should immediately exempt translators from his immigration ban order
A Muslim-American group Monday filed a lawsuit alleging that President Donald Trump’s executive order restricting immigration seeks “the mass expulsion” of Muslims living in the United States.
The order now affects seven nations – but includes provisions for other nations to be added to the list, should advisors determine that to be the best course of action.
In a country where gun laws are a hot topic, the fact that, on average, 11,737 Americans are shot dead each year by fellow countrymen may not come as a surprise. A federal judge in NY granted a temporary stay Saturday night prohibiting anyone legally authorized to enter the US from being deported. Trump imposed the 90-day ban on Friday, singling out Iraq, Yemen, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Somalia and Libya, transforming the nation’s airports into scenes of chaos and protest over the weekend.
“People who have been lawfully vetted and granted legal status are being detained illegally as a result of the president’s unconstitutional executive order”, Davis said. She’s studied Islamic terrorism and recruitment since the 1970s.
Certainly, it seems to me the violation of worldwide law as well as the US Constitution, Boyle stressed, saying, “The problem here is that the president is given pretty broad authority to exclude people on grounds of national security”. “Our enemy is a radical network of terrorists and every government that supports them”. That our country under President Trump would put us in a similar position of moral disgrace is appalling. That outrage was the deadliest mass shooting in American history and the worst terror strike on the country since the attacks of 2001. In a 2015 essay in the Islamic State’s English-language magazine Dabiq, the group said that its motivation for launching terrorist attacks in Europe was to provoke an anti-Muslim backlash that would force ambivalent Muslims to enlist with them.
The Department of Homeland Security said about 375 travelers had been affected by the order, 109 of whom were in transit and were denied entry to the United States.
The draft dissent cable also points out the obvious.
“We, as attorneys, are foot soldiers of the American Constitution and took an oath to protect all from being targeted by the government due to their faith”, he added. On Sunday, the department reversed itself. While the constitutionality of the order remains unclear, what is clear is its un-American nature and the danger it poses to the United States and people around the globe.
