Super Bowl history suggests Patriots have edge over Falcons
Tom Brady made a number of great plays in one of the greatest games in National Football League history Sunday night, but my favorite by far happened with 2:35 to go in the first half.
Said Brady: “They’re all different”.
“Coach [Bill] Parcells, one of things that he said that’s always stuck with me is that in boxing, the mark of a great champion is the one who can get up off the mat and win”, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Monday.
“It was right here”, Brady said.
Oh, to be a fly on his shoulder. One of those moments took place off the field when Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady celebrated the win in part by giving his dad a peck on the lips.
And then Brady made a amusing face and shrugged as he tried to recall the sequence. Brady’s father told a local TV station that he believed Goodell had gone on a “witch hunt” targeting his son. Brady and his Hall of Fame career is seeking the to break the tie with his boyhood idol Joe Montana (four) for most Super Bowl wins as a quarterback and will have a prime opportunity.
On Thursday, the concern in Brady’s voice was obvious when addressing the uncertainty over whether his mother, Galynn, would attend the game. Just five of Brady’s targets have made a Pro Bowl – Troy Brown, Randy Moss, Matt Slater (as a special teamer), Wes Welker and tight end Rob Gronkowski – with only Moss, Welker and Gronkowski earning All-Pro honors. Not to mention Tom Sr., who showed where his son gets his fiery nature from when blasting Goodell publicly last week.
The Associated Press reports Brady told a reporter as he walked to the team bus that he haldn’t recovered it yet, adding, “Yeah, it’s going to be on eBay at some point”. So before you dismiss this stats geek, give me a shot to show why I’ve backed another GOAT in the past and why the numbers – both traditional and advanced – don’t do Brady justice. So, it’s unfortunate cause that’s a nice piece of memorabilia. “Will try to track that down”. This was the third Super Bowl in which he had more than 50 dropbacks and his second double-digit comeback victory.
With that, Deflategate was lost in the cycle of more recent news. After the Patriots won the overtime coin toss, Brady led a game-winning, eight-play drive, capped by a one-yard James White score.
Defensive back Nate Ebner was limited all week with a concussion, and the Pats are not going to push him to return if he is still showing any symptoms.
“She’s been through a lot”. I think a lot of people are starting to focus on recovery, as opposed to just ‘let’s go work hard.’ There’s an expense to working hard.
