Liverpool won’t win anything this season – Dietmar Hamann
Liverpool’s last league win came against Manchester City on December 31. There was no anger, only exhausted exasperation.
A total of 16 clubs had a bigger net spend than Liverpool this summer, with the Anfield outfit breaking even after selling the likes of Christian Benteke, Joe Allen and Mario Balotelli. Afterwards Klopp suggested it was time for some home truths.
Liverpool have not had an easy way of winning games of late. Hamann said that Klopp has had an impact at Liverpool and some players have improved during his time at the club. “That’s causing problems. That’s how it is”. We don’t lie to ourselves. I see them every day. It’s all about concentration.
Klopp’s team has also failed to win more games overall (52%) than Rodgers’ team (48%). ‘We have to show a reaction.
Once again, his side dominated the ball but did not come close to making their 72 percent worth of possession count, even after they improved on their insipid first-half showing. The Reds haven’t won a league match in 2017, drawing with Sunderland, Manchester United and Chelsea, and suffering a devastating loss to Swansea.
Juergen Klopp, lauded for overseeing the most attractive side in English football before Christmas, said Liverpool’s New Year decline made “no sense” after their Premier League title challenge evaporated on Saturday. With Niasse’s goal in particular and his known history at Everton, Silva wasn’t bothered. People talk about stability, you don’t get stability by giving people a six-year contract. “That’s not a problem”.
The German called for calm and resilience as he and his charges try to turn things around.
“So, we should be at 100 per cent”. It has been like this my whole life.
“I hope he is there for six years, that means the club will have been successful”. I’m not like this.
“When I get up tomorrow I will only be solution-orientated”. “My team showed a fantastic attitude and fantastic spirit, and the important thing is to keep focus and continue to take more points”. Very good result, give us confidence, show the players this is the right way.
If you don’t fancy the left-back, you’ve got to bring a left-back in during the summer.
Chief Executive Ian Ayre announced this week he is standing down, but Wallace, the Chief Football Writer for the Daily and Sunday Telegraph, insists the Fenway Group have no plans to change the manager and indeed Klopp’s position is as strong as ever. We don’t look for excuses. We are responsible, the squad, myself especially.
