Pats’ QB Brady says Super Bowl comeback not his best game
However, it was the toughest one yet, as the Patriots had to complete the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history.
With so little time left in the game at that point, the obvious option for the Falcons would have been to run the ball and run down clock, securing a potential field goal and getting the Falcons their first ever Super Bowl victory. Team Captain Matthew Slater called for heads and heads it was.
Of course those of us who watched the game without Boston sports-fanatic blinders on know that it was one of Brady’s more mediocre playoff performances and he got extremely lucky. We forget that after New England pulled to within 28-20 with 5:53 left, the Falcons moved nearly too efficiently from their own 10-yard line to New England’s 23 in a little more than two minutes. LaGerrete Blount’s future is up in the air, but Patriots could probably make it work if he doesn’t stay with the team. They want another title next season, too.
This most recent Super Bowl served as a flawless example, as the Patriots were able to claim the crown without their star tight end Rob Gronkowski.
Many could consider this latest Patriots win a meltdown by the Falcons. “And I walked back to my bag and it was gone”.
Tom Brady is not normal. It’s as much a mental game, as it is a physical one.
Other aspects of the season and Super Bowl mentioned is the play of wide receiver Julian Edelman. I don’t know if we actually said that, but there was great confidence. The team could use the franchise tag (worth around $14 million), which the team has done in the past with another key player on defense in Vince Wilfork (2010) before eventually reaching to an extension. I remember the early struggles of a young No. 1 draft pick named Drew Bledsoe, his promise coming through when the Patriots played the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXI (albeit in a loss) and then losing his job to a young Brady in 2001.
Dallas Cowboys rookie sensation running back Ezekiel Elliott and Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr each received six votes. Federer hasn’t won a major final since winning Wimbledon in 2012, and somehow, through some luck and Novak being off his game, he was able to outlast his eternal rival Nadal to win the 2017 Australian Open. He spearheaded a comeback from 28-3 down in the second half, winning a record fourth Super Bowl MVP in the process. Then, after an intended pass to him was tipped, he found his way between three defenders to catch a ball that was destined to hit the ground. It’s something the Bengals will just need to be better at, especially as they add more offensive personnel this offseason. If only Gronk was healthy, maybe he would’ve pulled in that Hail Mary in Super Bowl XLVI.
