Beyoncé’s baby bump: The real Grammys star?
Some of these results over the years have been preposterous, but I wouldn’t go that far this time, since Adele, who won nearly everything, really is good.
Grammy viewers were hoping for a surprise performance from pregnant Beyoncé, and she delivered. The imagery, certainly of a piece with Lemonade as a whole, evoked African spirituality while also incorporating Renaissance iconography. She officially makes history as the only artist in Grammys history to sweep the Album, Record and Song of the Year twice. “I, of course, am very, very grateful, but I felt the need because I love her – I felt like she was more worthy”.
Adele beat Beyonce at the Grammy Awards, taking home five of them including the big three. “We all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see and we appreciate that. No matter where his career or love life took him, he always remained true to Britain and they gave him a hard f***ing time a lot of the time, but he still stayed loyal until the very end”.
Nearly instantly, the world decided Adele had deliberately broken her award in order to share with Beyonce. Fortunately she was able to strike gold again with Hello, a stunning song that tugs at the heartstrings with its impeccable production and heart-wrenching lyrics.
She was nominated for the top prize in 2010 with “I Am”.
Here are four moments from last night that made us turn our heads. She won against the bets that were placed in favour of Beyonce’s concept album Formation and Lemonade.
Her performance was quick to garner reactions on Twitter and among her musical peers.
Adele’s 25 won album of the year at the 2017 Grammys on Sunday night, minutes after the singer accepted the accolade for record of the year for “Hello”. Joining the hip hop pioneers onstage were dancers crossing a wall and women in hijabs, in reference to the wall the United States president has said he wants to build along the Mexican border and his travel ban on predominantly Muslim countries. She performed “Hello” from her album 25 and it was unbelievable.
“Hello” won the Grammy Awards for record of the year, song of the year and best pop solo performance. Adele and Queen B+baby bump were the two big stars of the night! By the time the orchestra came in for the first chorus, she was so far off pitch that couldn’t go on, stopping the performance in its tracks.
