Hailing the Jio’s performance in just 170 days since its launch in September, Ambani said that now India has become No.1 country in the world in terms of mobile data usage. Jio also offers 100 SMSes free per day, but if you want more you can recharge your number with Rs 20 which will give you a balance of Rs 175 for sending texts in India or overseas. Starting April 1, all new subscribers and over 100 million existing users will have to pay for the data they are consuming. If Jio offers 30GB of monthly data (1GB daily cap) for Rs 303, it is still several times cheaper than other operators.

Reliance Industries telecom unit, JIO has now reached over 100 Million subscribers in just 6 Months. “We plan to double this in the coming months and will offer Jio coverage to 99 per cent Indians”, says Ambani. “We have been consistently saying this, but nobody believed us”. Currently, 70 percent of the telecom industry’s revenues come from voice services. Jio may award the contract by early next year for the next phase of expansion, which will begin later in 2017. There is no reason why anyone who has legitimate internet use won’t keep a Jio SIM card handy. In addition to these plans, Jio will also offer its own tariff plans, which would offer more bang for the buck.

Jio Prime members will be able to enjoy the benefits of the Happy New Year offer until 31 March 2018. They need to pay Rs 99 for subscribing the Jio Prime, with a one-time fees.

The company will continue it’s free services till 31st March 2017. They said that they are monitoring the competition and are aiming at offering 20% more data than them at the same prices.
