Protesters gather in downtown Los Angeles for President’s Day
In New York, Mr Trump’s home base, demonstrators gathered in Columbus Circle, in front of Trump International Hotel, to voice their dismay.
Some people raised signs that said “Not My President”, while others held up a large American flag.
They loudly cheered Trump’s comments.While anti-Trump protests are continuously across the country, the president’s fiercest backers echoed his message.
“Our hope is that this mass movement can swing public opinion on a range of issues in a way that progressives have never managed before, and on issues on which we have been losing for decades”, the group’s spokesman said.
“I feel like the President has oppressed so many people”, said Allyson, who is a student at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks.
The “Not My President’s Day” rallies were the the latest in a series of mass demonstrations against Donald Trump and drew thousands in New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles and Chicago.
“I don’t hate people because I disagree with them so I went over to the other side and had my sign with me”, said Merwin.
“I’m trying to demonstrate as much as possible until I figure out what else to do”, said Wolfram, who held a sign that said “Old white ladies are really displeased”. One protester, Billy Evans, said he was at the rally to stand up for illegal immigrants. Instead of going to work and lying in bed, binge-watching a few seasons of The Office, scores of concerned Americans are choosing to be proactive when they participate in one of the many Presidents Day protests happening on Monday.
“I’m here to protest everything that 45 [45th US president] stands for”. Cleveland’s rally is March 4.
For hours Trump supporters rallied in a parking lot on South Lake Drive in Lexington to back the Presidents views on certain issues.
Christine Pelkin, 62, a registered nurse from Richmond, said she has committed her free time to protesting against President Trump.
Thousands more took to the streets of Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, Denver, Austin, Washington, D.C., and elsewhere.
Crowds gathered Monday on Central Park West to protest President Donald Trump’s policies.
“Not My President’s Day” rallies were held across the United States, including in Trump’s hometown of NY.
“I think the main thing we have to do is start with the next elections starting in 2018 and then in 2020”, said Allued.
