Quiz: Which Oscars Best Picture nominee are you?
So who is performing at the 2017 Academy Awards? “We also knew that we wanted to use Ellen’s yellow dress to recreate the iconic dance scene and most famous shot/poster from the film”.
It is expected that the Oscars 2017 will be quite the La La Land. “Hidden Figures” is the crowd pleaser of the bunch but is conventionally made.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: This is the surest bet this year. Even if you don’t love La La Land, you have to admit it’s a major feat, creating a Hollywood musical from scratch. It’s a movie about the movies. Given both it’s critical acclaim and box office success; expect it to get the most attention on the broadcast as well as be the big victor. Could we see a Best Picture/Best Director split on Sunday?
Representing the movie La La Land, John Legend will sing the songs “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” and “City of Stars”.
Estheticians however said that to get the best results, it is best to start any procedures at least a week ahead of Sunday’s ceremony.
“La La Land” star Ryan Gosling is up against Golden Globe victor Casey Affleck (“Manchester by the Sea”) and SAGs victor Denzel Washington (“Fences”) for best actor, while Emma Stone (“La La Land”) enters as the frontrunner for best actress. That award went to Denzel Washington for “Fences”.
The 89th Annual Academy Awards are to be held on February 26 that is this weekend. And I think Emma Stone is a done deal. But Portman has gained little traction, making this one Stone’s to lose.
Mahershala Ali from “Moonlight” is the favorite and probably my second choice. With SAG, yes, there is real overlap with the voters, as opposed to the critics awards.
After a long awards season of campaigning, the finish line is now in sight with the Oscars just days away. But she’s Viola Davis and deserves whatever awards she gets. All of the nominees in the category were excellent – if I was voting, it would be for Naomie Harris in “Moonlight”. Lucas Hedges of Manchester by the Sea is the youngest at 20. The screenplay is the weakest element in “La La Land”. (“Moonlight” still could be honored for its screenplay).
Since the story happens in Hollywood, it might resonate with many Hollywood people.
The La La Land epidemic persists in this category, too. But there are some tight races to be found elsewhere, so below I run down my picks for who’s going to win every category while also offering up who could win, should win, and should have been nominated. Eighty-five countries submitted foreign language film entries. “Toni Erdmann”, the nearly-three-hour German comedy/drama was immediately the frontrunner. For the record, I did watch all of the films before I submitted my votes. But the Oscars have never really been that important. On the technical side look for The Jungle Book to win Best Visual Effects while Star Trek Beyond nets Best Makeup.
