Jurgen Klopp: ‘We are all playing for our future’
Stevie Nicol lashes out at Liverpool’s abysmal showing against Leicester and their entire “feast or famine” mentality.
Leicester opened the scoring shortly before the half hour mark when England forward Vardy hared onto Marc Albrighton’s defence-piercing through ball and fired low beyond Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester City collected their first victory of the calendar year with a 3-1 win over Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Monday.
Vardy scored twice – his first Premier League goals since December – and Danny Drinkwater, another of the stars of the title-winning campaign, chose an opportune time to register his first of the season with a handsome shot from outside the area. “They’re on course to concede 50 goals again this season and Klopp hasn’t rectified that”.
“We get judged every day, especially on matchdays, especially on performances”. We can hit you on the break with Sadio Mane’.
“We’ve been working hard on everything we’ve been asked to do but it’s not been happening”.
“There’s no difference in tactics, there’s not a different plan for certain games”. I don’t want to make it too serious but we have to perform differently, because we are able to. I really couldn’t put my finger on exactly why. I love James Milner but he’s not a left-back. I am sure they will do that.
Jurgen Klopp fielded a team almost identical to the one which defeated Tottenham 16 days ago, but the German’s team has let him down massively.
“I still expect Liverpool to beat Arsenal next week”. Manchester City who have a game in hand are third with 52 points.
Having picked up a foot injury in Friday during a training session at Melwood, it was always unlikely that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson would face Leicester City on Monday night. The win helped the Foxes jump from 18 to 15 in the league table, while also allowing the reigning Premier League champions to steer clear of the relegation zone, for now. Leicester are gash this season but it’s still the same team that won the Premier League, and in a one-off game, the Foxes are capable of beating any team in the league (as they proved last year).
This evening’s performance was not even as unusual as some people were portraying it to be in the aftermath, as Leicester began life without Claudio Ranieri in convincing fashion.
That is a marked contrast to the previous month when they played 10 games in 32 days.
Welcome back Liverpool, we have missed you. What we achieved together and as a team was the impossible!
“It’s not that Leicester were over aggressive tonight, I think we were not physical enough”. “I could see in their eyes when they came in tonight that they were up for the fight and had fire in the belly”. That’s not even close to being enough.
