“Moonlight” Wins Oscar for Best Picture
The late-night TV host proceeded to pull out his smartphone, which was connected to a projector, and typed out several tweets to Trump.
“Warren I know your pain!”
In the greatest Oscars ending ever.
After “La La Land” was announced as the victor of Hollywood’s most coveted award, the cast and production team came up on stage give their speeches – only to find out that they weren’t winners after all.
It added: “For the past 83 years, the Academy has entrusted PwC with the integrity of the awards process during the ceremony, and last night we failed the Academy”.
The most shocking part was that La La Land lost at all. Moonlight was actually the Best Picture victor. It’s just what the Academy does. “They eventually found the best picture envelope”. Some screenshots appear to show that Warren Beatty, who was supposed to announce the victor, was handed the envelope for Best Actress instead of Best Picture. “So whatever story, I don’t mean to start stuff, but whatever story that was, I had that card”. But, after all the confusion, there turned out to be a good reason for the pause. As freely as the Steve Harvey jokes flowed, the two incidents aren’t all that similar.
Conan O’Brien defended Beatty, saying that the envelope he was given “was pretty confusing”. Stone had just won best actress.
How is that possible? “I know more than anyone else in the world about this”, he said.
The Academy vowed to prevent a similar mistake. Ruiz, who has worked for PwC for almost two decades, is only the second woman to serve as a “PwC Oscars tabulator”, while Cullinan is a PwC partner and serves as the company’s U.S. board chairman.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Cullinan posted the Stone photograph on Twitter about three minutes before Dunaway and Beatty took the stage. Nobody has an answer for that, so let the wild conspiracy theories roll. “We would have loved to have won best picture”. I think it’s one of the best films of all time. One of those two. “We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to each of them for the graciousness they displayed during such a hard moment”, the statement continued.
Since La La Land was nominated as Best Picture, Georgie said the movie stars assumed they had the card identifying the correct film. “‘Here’s your Oscar, but some white folks get to touch it first.’ To make matters worse, while they were up on stage, Ryan Gosling explained jazz to them”.
