Trump to Propose ‘Historic’ Defense Spending Increases, Cuts to EPA, State Dept.
The Trump administration is now crafting a budget proposal that would boost military spending by roughly 10 percent, or $54 billion – while requesting deep, offsetting cuts to a variety of other agencies, including the State Department and the Environmental Protection Agency.
CNBC sourced an anonymous insider who said Trump’s budgetary goal was to, “do more with less and make the government lean and accountable”.
He said too much money is now being spent on individual military equipment and he will look to change that.

The budget blueprint marks the first step in what will be a lengthy negotiations process between the White House and Capitol Hill, with multiple rounds of discussions expected on the budget’s specifics. Environmental Defense Fund Vice President Elizabeth Thompson said the budget would cause “more air pollution, more asthma attacks for kids, [and] more health problems”.

US military spending has been at permanent wartime levels since the 2001 terror attacks, despite the significant drawdowns in Afghanistan and Iraq under President Obama.
The boost in defense spending would be paid for in part by decreases in the State Department and the $8.1 billion EPA budget, Reuters reported.
