Sixers Reveal Devastating News About Joel Embiid
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was recently listed as “out indefinitely” and will undergo MRI. Finally, Colangelo acknowledged that Embiid also had a slightly torn meniscus.
“He’s got good people around him”, 76ers coach Brett Brown said Wednesday before Philadelphia visited the Miami Heat. However, it showed the meniscus tear is the more pronounced of the two injuries, a source said.
Colangelo has insisted National Basketball Association players often play through meniscus tears.
An MRI, scheduled for Monday, was to provide the Sixers with additional information.
The process is over, at least for this season.
But Embiid’s wow-factor and the lack of comparable competition just might enable the charismatic big to make history. He was slated to play on Friday, March 3 when the Sixers host the New York Knicks.
Embiid first injured the knee in a 93-92 win over Portland on January 20th.
In the end, he played 31 games.
He was averaging 20.2 points per game despite playing a limited 25.4 minutes per game, immediately a scoring threat even in his first year competing against National Basketball Association talent.
“He’s just in the early stages of what I think is going to be a long, long time having tremendous success”, Brown said. “Then we look at a lot of stuff with his body, because he plays so hard”. No one is expecting him to lead the team on some historic run and put them in playoff position but, it will be great to see what type of numbers he can post and the type of leader he can be. He bruised his left knee in the second half.
For that, the Sixers must be prepared to brace against Embiid’s chronic inability to remain available. Halfway through the third quarter, Embiid had the ball on the perimeter. His left knee buckled backward as he landed.
While he works toward his return to the court and eyes his next official game months down the road, he will embrace his mantra. For the first time since the 2013, the Sixers will have won more than 20 games in a season.
Embiid is experienced swelling and soreness after recent training sessions.
