Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he is ‘an animal, a lion’
The Spain worldwide joined the Red Devils from Stamford Bridge in the winter of 2014 after he fell out-of-favour in midfield under-then Blues coach Jose Mourinho.
The former Sweden global has scored 15 goals and has made four assists in 24 appearances in his first Premier League campaign. “Now that he is thriving at Manchester United, the comparisons with Eric Cantona are inevitable”.
There could be more silverware for Herrera, United and the supporters this season with the EFL Cup potentially only the start of something bigger.
The Red Devils managed to ride out the onslaught by the south-coast club, before Zlatan Ibrahimovic managed to grab his second goal of the game with a header from close-range, and that was enough to earn his side the win.
After the match, his star teammate Paul Pogba praised Ibrahimovic but didn’t seem to remember that he was signed on a free transfer. Ibrahimovic, or Zlatan as he normally goes by, shows that age is indeed just a number. Zlatan has a consistent track record when it comes to goal scoring.
The Argentine defender found Lingard roaming in the box.
Manolo Gabbiadini led the resistance as an impressive Southampton side made a nuisance of themselves. “We scored first but the decision was not for us”. The 25-year-old’s first time shot, on the spin having deceived Smalling, left United stopper David de Gea rooted to the spot. “Then the game is broken”. He ran with the ball and distributed it to his teammates.
The Swede doesn’t often fail to find the back of the net but, whenever he has, Mourinho’s men have struggled to get past the opposition.
Even Jose Mourinho remains at odds with this latest accomplishment. He had a reflective attitude after the game.
“This is the first one plus the Charity Shield”, said the United manager. “Our fans have another trophy for our brilliant history so everything is good”.
“Of course it is a great moment for the fans and I hope we can give them pleasure and joy to see this game”, said manager Claude Puel, who – like Mourinho – was appointed in the summer.
Although this particular cup does not hold as much significance as others in England do, Raiola has revealed that Zlatan was absolutely delighted to win it.
