It’s been AGES since we’ve had a proper new, novelty, console – and the Nintendo Switch is finally here to excite us like the Wii U just never could!

The best part of Nintendo’s classic video game franchise “The Legend of Zelda” has always been its immersive world. For whatever reason, Nintendo felt it had to rush out the console, so online play won’t be available until this fall. “Launching much earlier in the year than its predecessors, we expect the Switch to initially appeal mostly to the loyal fanbase, before a broader, more mainstream audience adopts it”. The only content that’s now available is content that is a part of Breath of the Wild’s expansion pass. On Gamerankings, Nintendo now owns four of the top five games with Grand Theft Auto IV coming in with the fifth place spot.

“I was entranced by this version of Hyrule, and it surprised me at almost every turn, from its wealth of discoveries to the way it shuns the established tropes of previous Zelda games”, writes Game Informer’s Kyle Hilliard, who gave the game a 10/10 rating. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 64 is at the top with a 99 and the only other two games above Breath of the Wild are Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 and GTA 4, both with 98 scores.

Most reviewers are thrilled with the endless encounters and experiences Breath of the Wild has to offer.

According to IGN, before he made a decision to fully test these concepts in the more complex systems of a 3D Zelda world, he first enlisted Breath of the Wild technical director Takuhiro Dohta to develop a 2D prototype that would include pieces of the game’s physics and chemistry systems.
