Google Assistant may come to iPhone
The first Pixel is still the best Android smartphone available, in my opinion, and it’s good to see Google continuing along that path. The notion of Google Assistant sitting alongside Siri on iPhone devices was revealed at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this past weekend.
It appears Hafsteinsson and Google are leaving open the door to a possible release on Android’s main rival handset in the future. Today, Google is pushing out the new Google Search app version 6.13 which bundles the Assistant.
The Google Assistant is artificial intelligence based software that learns and adapts its responses with your usage. Well, Google is quite too late in the game as Microsoft already beat it to bring its own digital assistant known as Cortana to Android back in 2015. For example, if you ask Google Assistant about the weather, Google Assistant will remind you to make sure to take along sunglasses, as against responding with the temperature.
Among these improved features is Google Assistant’s capability to converse with its users using common language, unlike Google Now’s keyword-focused input.
Google past year introduced the Google Pixel smartphones with top notch specs and features and premium price point.
Assistant will be automatically installed on any eligible devices through an update to Google Play Services.
Once updated with Google Assistant, the users can communicate with the phone like a normal one-on-one conversation with another person and can continue the conversation as long as they want. It will also be rolled out to German speakers in Germany.
The recently added features includes a dedicated icon to call upon Google Assistant, animated emojis, and an easier way to search for GIF images from inside the application.
According to an article at Tech Crunch, the Google Assistant was first unveiled at last year’s Google I/O conference where it became a flagship feature on the Google Pixel phones.
