America’s Next Top Model Contestant Mirjana Puhar Murdered
Mirjana Puhar, one of the contestants on last year’s cycle of America’s Next Top Model, was found dead on Tuesday, in the home she shared with her boyfriend and his roommate in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Puhar, 19, Jonathan Alvarado, 23, who was Puhar’s boyfriend and Jusmar Gonzaga-Garcia, 21 were victims of an apparent triple homicide. Puhar had recently moved in with Alvarado and Gonzaga-Garcia. Police arrested 19-year-old Emmanuel Jesus Rangel, and he was charged with 3 counts of 1st degree murder. The families of the victims have been communicated of the deaths. Meanwhile, Rangel remains in police custody at the Office of Mecklenburg County Sheriff. Rangel is also charged with another murder that took place on Sunday (Feb 22) morning.
According to the investigators, the murders were possibly drug related and the victims knew Rangel. The incident came to light when a friend allegedly heard the gunshots and informed the Police after entering the house and discovering the bodies. Reportedly, there was money scattered all over in the house.
Puhar moved from Serbia to the US with her family when she was five, to escape the Kosovo War. At 18, she starred in 21st cycle of the Tyra Banks-led reality TV series, which featured both female and male participants. She was however, eliminated in the 10th episode.
Puhar’s fellow ANTM contestants, show’s judges Miss J Alexander and Kelly Cutrone, Tyra Banks along with fellow Top Model executive producer Ken Mok, expressed grief on the tragic death of an aspiring model. Keith Carlos, the winner of cycle 21, took to Twitter to mourn Mirjana’s death. Will Jardell, Cycle 21 runner-up, posted an emotional Facebook post to express condolences.
The reality TV star, Puhar will be missed. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims. May her soul rest in peace. And we want total justice with the murder of this budding model whom Hollywood lost untimely and tragically.
