Hundreds attend rallies both for and against Trump in San Diego
People from around MI came to the capitol to express their zeal for Trump at a time when his supporters say he’s too heavily criticized and urge fellow Americans to rally behind the Republican businessman.
Ellie Hoffman, an Oakland resident, came to downtown Berkeley on Saturday as part of a counter-protest to a planned pro-Trump rally.
Across the country there were many rallies supporting the president, Saturday including one at the State Capital.
Rallies were scheduled in at least 50 cities, including Nashville, Phoenix, Boston, Denver, Miami, St. Paul, Washington, D.C., Overland Park, Kan., and Berkeley, Calif.
“We hate the fact that he’s working so hard and he’s losing sleep and we can see it in his face”, said Welch, adding that she supports his polices 100 percent.
The rally opened with an extensive prayer, asserting that President Donald Trump’s administration was god-given and calling for good luck to Trump.
“Obviously there’s demonstrators that are against him”, McCune said. “That we support what it is that they are doing”.
But Trump supporters were met by Trump opponents in several cities, and in some cases, these confrontations led to arrests.
“We would like these events to be successful”, he said. Officers stopped a few attempts by some protesters to push their way into the pro-Trump rally, according to co-organizer Steve Gill. “He’s just a bad, bad person”. “I think what we’re seeing on both sides is they’re not quite ready to step away and just let the actions take place”. “That’s why we’re here, hopefully to change some minds”.
Former Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo addressed the pro-Trump rally Saturday March 4, 2017 at the state Capitol.
At one point during one of the speeches, a protester put up a banner above the rotunda.
The Pennsylvania march’s GoFundMe page, which accrued $360 of their $5,000 goal, said: ‘The Grass Roots of Pennsylvania.the forgotten people, who were silent no longer on November 8, 2016 and voted RED for Donald J Trump are facing more challenges today.
Skorjanec said he supports President Trump for his plans to focus on America. “Need to support him, like it or not”. “I think there are paid inciters and a couple of them are upset that they haven’t been able to incite a riot”.
“Each of us is here because we believe we can make our own decisions about our own lives”, said state Rep. Cal Bahr, R-East Bethel.
Protesters stood across the street from the State Capitol at the start of the rally, then crossed the street after the first two speakers finished.
