Wake looking to pad its résumé in the ACC Tournament

Now the team faces a tough path in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament that for No. 9 seed UM begins Wednesday at noon against No. 8 seed Syracuse in Brooklyn. Different media outlets have been saying different things about the Orange’s tournament hopes, but one thing is certain: Syracuse has done everything they can to turn their season around, and this team deserves a chance to continue their season.

North Carolina pulled off the daily double in the ACC last year, winning both the regular-season and conference tournament titles, and now is halfway toward pulling that same trick this year.

This will be the first-time the ACC Tournament will be held in New York City.

Even though 10 teams is short of the 11 the Big East sent in 2011, there’s still a solid argument supporting the ACC’s unprecedented dominance this season.

Danny Manning, the third-year Wake Forest basketball coach and a Greensboro, N.C., native, admits might be a little biased about where the ACC tournament is played each season. If they manage to get at least one win in the ACC tournament against Miami, then they should have the record to receive an At-Large Bid to the NCAA tournament.

“Over the last five games, there’s been a lot at stake in every game”, Tech coach Buzz Williams said.

The league is so deep and talented that even a team like No. 9 seed Miami can make a run because of its guard play.

With the win, a No. 1 seed for the NCAA tournament appears likely for Notre Dame, as does a home appearance in the opening rounds. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2.

After its loss against Duke earlier in the season, North Carolina went 5-1 through the rest of the regular season.

The tournament will be a homecoming for senior forward Kamari Murphy, who played at Lincoln High on the south end of Brooklyn.

Another Boley three made it 63-43 to cap a 20-2 run, and ultimately the shell-shocked Blue Devils would lose their 13th straight to Notre Dame while seeing their 10-game winning streak (since the 62-58 loss on January 26 at Notre Dame) snapped. Will it be the Tar Heels?
