Bin Laden kin die in plane crash
The death of Osama bin Laden’s three family members, said to include the slain al-Qaeda chief’s stepmother and half-sister, remains shrouded in mystery as questions are being raised over the cause of the plane crash in UK despite normal weather and runway conditions.
An airport spokesman said: “Blackbushe Airport confirmed that a Phenom 300 jet with four persons on board crashed near the end of the runway around 3.09pm while attempting to make a landing”.
The Saudi ambassador “offered his condolences to the sons of the late Mohammed bin Laden and their relations for the grave incident of the crash of the plane carrying members of the family”, a statement posted on the embassy’s Twitter account said.
Police said four people – a pilot and three passengers – died when an executive jet crashed into a vehicle park. He said he saw the plane and several cars in flames.
The bin Laden household disowned Osama in 1994 when Saudi Arabia stripped him of his citizenship due to his militant actions.
The private jet crashed near the airfield and into cars at a auto auction site next door. Zuhair Hashim, Sana’s husband and Osama bin Laden’s brother-in-law, also died in the crash too.
The plane’s pilot was Mazen Salem al-Dajah, a Jordanian in his late 50s.
Saudi authorities are reported to be working with British officials to transfer the victims’ bodies.
The police have launched an investigation into what caused the crash alongside the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB). Osama bin Laden’s billionaire father Mohammed had greater than 50 youngsters and based the Binladen Group, a sprawling development conglomerate awarded many main constructing contracts within the Sunni kingdom. He was killed in an American raid in Pakistan’s garrison city of Abbottabad in May 2011.
The airplane was also equipped with IFR (Instrumental Flight Rules) technology that enables the pilot to land the plane under harsh weather conditions, in zero visibility.
Bin Laden’s sister and stepmother were named among the victims by Saudi Arabian media.
