The Switch is apparently Nintendo’s fastest selling console ever
So there are a lot of headlines popping up within the Android community that talk about how Nintendo’s new Joy-Con controllers for the Switch console will natively pair with an Android device. And by doing so, the new Zelda game beat out Super Mario 64, which was the launch title for Nintendo 64 nearly two decades ago. In a series of Twitter posts, New York Times reporter Nick Wingfield shared some inside information obtained during an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime, president and CEO of Nintendo of America.
In an article by Kotaku, some owners of the Nintendo Switch have been reporting problems with the hyped console, which ranges from dead pixels to crashing and more.
Reynolds is another source that says Nintendo Switch sales from the first weekend miles ahead of the Wii, the Wii U, the N64 and the GameCube.
Nintendo will not reveal official sales figures until April.
Though, I don’t see why many people would naturally use a Joy-Con over an Xbox or PS4 pad to play PC games. Nevertheless, the Switch is off to a fast start.
This implies that USA sales of Breath of the Wild didn’t quite beat the number of Wii units sold in the territory, but it nevertheless points to a highly successful launch for the platform holder in both regions.
When it comes to other territories, Nintendo Switch managed to sell a total of 330,637 during its first three days of sale in Japan (via Famitsu), with Breath of the Wild selling a further 190,060 copies.
The news is much, much, much rosier in the United States and Japan, though.
It is one thing to beat out the Wii for a 2-day record, but another thing entirely for Zelda to become the best-selling Nintendo title ever.
