IBM and Salesforce Team Up for Artificial Intelligence
In what could be called a meeting of artificially intelligent minds, a new partnership will combine IBM’s cognitive computing platform Watson with Salesforce’s Einstein artificial intelligence (AI) for customer relationship management (CRM).
By bringing its all-important Watson service to Salesforce and Einstein customers, IBM is determined to double-down on that huge Salesforce consulting market, not compete with it.
This practice will enable Watson to directly link into the Salesforce Intelligent Customer Success Platform, combining deep customer insights from Salesforce Einstein with Watson’s structured and unstructured data across many sources.
IBM will also deploy Salesforce’s Service Cloud internally across the company. “It’s the best of both worlds”. IBM Application Integration Suite will be available by the end of March 2017.
Salesforce and IBM want to offer a broader humanlike conversation and learning capabilities for Watson and Einstein. The institutional investor bought 33,965 shares of the CRM provider’s stock, valued at approximately $2,543,000. salesforce.com, inc. comprises about 2.2% of CMH Wealth Management LLC’s portfolio, making the stock its 16th largest position. “If you’re a channel partner on Marketing Cloud or in Commerce Cloud you can help your customers get to more successful and more impactful ROI, faster”. The new releases build on the capabilities of the company’s Health Cloud offering, launched early past year.
Salesforce has an AI program of its own, dubbed Einstein.
“It’s all about taking these technologies that are really rampant in the consumer space and bringing them to the enterprise in a really seamless, easy way, so that every Salesforce user can take advantage of artificial intelligence”, said Allison Witherspoon, Salesforce director of product marketing, in a briefing about the new Einstein features.
Or maybe not. Mueller told CMSWire IBM has made it clear Watson will keep running on IBM, leaving questions open from a data perspective.
In any case, the companies should be able to iron out these architectural details and with Watson’s smarts, Einstein might finally become a truly useful product.
Einstein Data Discovery, which is capable of analyzing millions of data combinations in minutes, then using the results to answer key business questions, like a personalized data scientists.
Today, IBM and Salesforce announced they will connect their artificial intelligence platforms to help companies target and serve customers. Then, Einstein would be able to quickly send the company’s maintenance team to the location in a seamless transition of workflow. This could help a insurance company, for instance, reach out to customers who may be in the path of severe weather. “This is how we will change healthcare; not through generalities, but through finding and intervening one at a time with extremely specific populations of patients”. According to these analysts, the Low Revenue Estimate for salesforce.com, inc.is 2.31 Billion and the High Revenue Estimate is 2.37 Billion.
