White House defends Trump’s wiretapping claim despite lack of proof

He added: “Is it legal for a sitting President to be “wire tapping” a race for president prior to an election?”

There is no proof that Barack Obama ordered a wiretap on Donald Trump.

The first request, which, sources say, named Trump, was denied back in June, but the second was drawn more narrowly and was granted in October after evidence was presented of a server, possibly related to the Trump campaign, and its alleged links to two banks; SVB Bank and Russia’s Alfa Bank.

Trump believes “pervasive leaks” undermine the nation’s security and wants legislative investigative bodies to examine them, his spokesman said. Obama’s director of national intelligence, James Clapper, said nothing matching Trump’s claims had taken place. “I think that you’ll continue to see targeted leaks of this information against individuals in the Trump administration like we’ve seen with [Jeff] Sessions, [Sebastian] Gorka, and Flynn, but I don’t think we’ll ever find out the full story”, Kredo said.

“I think the political natural disaster would destroy whatever legacy Barack Obama had”, said Napolitano, adding he thinks the Obama administration did in fact wiretap Trump Tower.

In a statement, White House press secretary Sean Spicer says “reports concerning potentially politically motivated investigations immediately ahead of the 2016 election are very troubling”. On Thursday night, a far-right talk show host argued that Obama’s team had conducted an ongoing campaign to undermine Trump before and after the election; Breitbart reported on that show Friday. “I promise I will”. Trump should let Comey make a statement. “An investigation by an independent commission is the only answer”, she wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

Maybe Trump knows that accusing former President Barack Obama of a felony, as well as of subverting the democratic process, is preposterous.

Congressional committees in the House and the Senate are probing suspected Russian efforts to undermine the 2016 election as well as any contacts between Russian officials and the Trump campaign.

Swalwell downplayed Trump’s allegation.

“I don’t think he’s tweeting out classified information”, Sanders said. “Presidents don’t wiretap anyone”. The FBI operates under the jurisdiction of the Justice Department.

Graham and Whitehouse have both been critical of the Trump team’s alleged ties to Russian Federation, and have pledged to run an investigation of their own from their perch on the judiciary committee panel.

Flynn had promised Vice President Mike Pence he had not discussed United States sanctions with the Russians, but transcripts of intercepted communications, described by U.S. officials, showed that the subject had come up in conversations between him and the Russian ambassador. Why is Trump returning to his birther-style attacks on Obama? He later retracted the allegation.

'The president has said that he has no ties to Russia. I assume that to be true' House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes said
