Barcelona defy 200/1 in-play odds to beat PSG
I know they have given away some daft goals and there were some dodgy decisions, but for Barcelona to score six goals was fantastic.
PSG still know that two minutes into five minutes of stoppage time they are still the strong favourites to go through on away goals, but there was a sting in the tail. It’s one of the most important games I’ll play and we have to convince ourselves we can do it. After seeing them sit back despite the goal, the team were incredible.
Three late goals – and another drop in concentration – shifted things in the Catalans’ way. I am convinced that at some point we will be close to qualifying. A team like this can do anything.
Emery admitted his team went to pieces in the final minutes, but said they were badly affected by the two second-half penalties given by German referee Deniz Aytekin. In a message to the club’s recent critics, Enrique added: “I would like to emphasise those who didn’t have the faith when we lost 4-0”.
Roberto added, “They say the fans are one more player, but today they were 10 more. We need to learn from it”, he said.
What makes the proposition even more taxing is that PSG have clearly matured into a serious contender to land an elusive first European crown under the shrewd guidance of Unai Emery.
Defender Gerard Pique even predicted a baby boom in the Catalan capital set off by Roberto’s outstretched right leg sparking delirium among almost 100,000 at the Camp Nou.
“My advice to you, knowing Luis and the players a little, is not to talk too much, because they will be back and prove you wrong”, former Barca and now Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had said about the first leg. Both teams faced seemingly impossible tasks. but both teams were also the ones you would bet on pulling off the impossible.
“We have done it all together and that helps a lot”.
“I threw myself on the ground and I saw the goalkeeper [Kevin Trapp] didn’t stop it”.
“If we pull it off it will be the greatest game of my career”.
“We were prepared for all this”.
Barcelona are looking to overturn the 0-4 defeat they suffered in Paris on a night which sent shockwaves through the club and arguably brought forward the news of coach Luis Enrique’s departure at the end of the season, reports Xinhua news agency.
“We are always talking about it not being over and yesterday is proof of that”.
“This sport is indescribable”.
