Cornyn Supports Effort of House Republicans on Healthcare Bill
A similar bill passed the House nearly unanimously in 2016.
Republicans have set an aggressive timetable for moving the bill.
More than 400 people, including the parents of transgender school children, gave emotional testimony to the committee to say how the bill would affect their lives.

House Bill 14 – often labeled the “blue lives matter” bill by critics – received final passage in the Kentucky Senate Tuesday on a 33-5 vote.
Senate majority Leader Mitch McConnell had hinted as much.
“I don’t think that’s an accurate characterization”, Cornyn said during a teleconference with reporters Wednesday. Should it pass, President Trump has said he supports it and is expected to sign it into law. “I don’t really think it is chaos”.
“Our nation faces risky, unpredictable threats across the world – as well as a readiness crisis within our military at a time we can ill-afford it”. “Why go through all anguish on the scoring on something that’s not going to be the bill?”
The Senate panel voted to send the legislation to the floor by a 7-1 vote after hearing more than 13 hours of testimony on the bill.
Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas, dubbed an early draft “Obamacare Lite”. “The bill that came before us previous year gave me reservations, due to the issue of identity theft and federal overreach”.
Supporters of the “bathroom bill” said it protects privacy and safety. “It allows us to get toxicology reports and those would be pushed into KASPER and a physician would be able to look at that and see if someone came in and they had overdosed on cocaine, an opiate or whatever it may be”.
