PS4 System Update 4.50 Releases Tomorrow
This setting will increase the performance of some games which haven’t been patched specifically for PS4 Pro.
Boost Mode essentially improves frame rates on certain games that have variable frame rates. To quickly access your Notification settings, go to the Options Menu and you will see options to turn off or customise which pop-ups appear. PlayStation users could always upgrade the internal hard drive in the system, but now gamers can utilize an external hard drive that supports up to 8TB of storage. If it’s a USB 2.0 drive, then it won’t meet Sony’s transfer speed requirements and won’t work. Any previously stored content will be wiped from the HDD. Another big improvement is external hard drive support for games on both PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles. However, user save files will still be saved on the system’s local storage. Speaking of the home screen, you’ll be able to set an in-game screenshot as your background now. Other things that this new update adds is the Boost Mode for the PlayStation 4 Pro, as well as voice chat for Remote Play (but only for PC, Mac, and Xperia devices). Also, you can set priority on the type of notifications you want to see as pop-ups while you’re gaming. Toggle it on or off by clicking the small microphone icon found on the tool bar. Its not quite a game changer, but it should at least allow Pro owners to put their newer hardware to good use when playing older PS4 titles.
You can now customize your PS4 with custom wallpapers and profile colors. You can install games on this HDD. When turned off, Sony says the system will run games that replicate the standard PS4. Users will be given a choice to “Upload/Download Saved Data” from the the PS4’s home screen that let them upload the saved data on the PS4 to PS Plus online storage and download the saved data from PS Plus online storage to the PS4 easily.
GIF support – Post GIFs to your Activity Feed.
Going one step further, PS Messages now offers quick replies for party invites, allowing you to tell your friends that you’ll join their group later or that you can’t play at the moment.
Your status is now visible as (Mobile) when you sign in to an application such as (PlayStation App), even when you are away from your PS4 system.
Available only for PlayStation VR, you can watch 3D movies on your console with your headset thanks to the support rendered for 3D Blu-Rays.
The software update will be available to all PS4 users starting tomorrow.
