Cowboys to release quarterback Tony Romo Thursday
After being released by the Dallas Cowboys, the Denver Broncos and the Houston Texans have emerged as possible destinations for Tony Romo. No, actually it’s so are the Broncos going to get Romo? According to the report, Jones told Romo that he waited for other teams to field offers for the aging quarterback before coming to the decision. It’s unknown what the Cowboys will ask for in exchange for Romo as of this report. The Cowboys would save $14 million against the cap in 2017 but they would not get the credit until June 2, at which time nearly all of the premier free agents will have signed elsewhere.
There is no need to trade of him and take on his three year contract that is worth 54 million dollars plus bonus money.
Tony Romo’s days with the Dallas Cowboys are over. Perhaps they could have kept him as bait late in free agency or even after the draft.
The Broncos have two young quarterbacks in Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch, and but their offense struggled with Siemian and they missed the playoffs in 2016.
Jay Cutler’s tumultuous eight-year run with the Bears is over.
Romo said his goodbye to the Cowboys, just minutes after the trade after the trade, on social media.
Romo has spent 14 seasons with Dallas, but was supplanted as the team’s starter this season by rookie standout Dak Prescott.
When Romo injured his back in the preseason against the Seahawks, Prescott had already shown promise in two preseason games.
The NFL trade this season will be one for the ages as former franchise players and big names are included on the trading block. I’m a little surprised at this point, but if the Cowboys can get something, so be it. “We have that kind of relationship”.
Comment below and let us know who you think will be the Texans starting quarterback in 2017. And wherever he best fits is where he wants to go because he wants to win. They moved ahead in free agency, landing Dallas Cowboys right guard Ronald Leary. But Houston is a short plane ride from the only home Romo has known since 2003, and Denver just did this dance for four years with a respected veteran QB, resulting in two Super Bowl appearances and one victory.
