Sleep expert explains how to beat Daylight Saving Time to the punch
A search on Change.org returns 1,466 petitions mentioning daylight saving time, most of which appear to support abolishing it.
DST starts at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March, and ends at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November. With evening daylight s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d, we can have more fun in the sun.
Though loosing that extra hour of sleep seems like an inconvenience, the possibility of longer afternoons through the fall season seems to appeal to the masses.
On Monday, Monday, a bill will be introduced in the Colorado Legislature that would make daylight saving time year-round. It spread from there. The United States followed suit in 1918 after joining the war on the side of the British, but it was quashed quickly after due to its wild unpopularity.
According to McCabe’s research, DST is when we all lose an hour of sleep. We gain more hours of sunlight.
“You should get into the habit of changing your clocks and batteries, and practicing your home fire escape plan with your family all in the same weekend”, Solobay said.
Thatcher, a Republican from Keizer, had sponsored legislation in 2015 to let voters decide whether to end daylight saving time, but it stalled.
“The only guys that may be able to claim a legitimate benefit from DST are the ones who own golf courses”.
“We change our early shift an hour earlier”, Butzbach said of DST.
Even if you don’t, it’s important to remember Daylight Saving when you wake up Sunday and feel like you lost time sleeping. “I’m all for erasing it all together and I know a lot of my friends would probably agree”. I’m going to cherish the moment and live in it, sleepy or not.
And if you’re exhausted of changing your clocks twice a year, Arizona, Hawaii and all of the United States’ territories don’t participate in Daylight Saving Time. Glad we do not change the time as it gets warm here, and there really is no need to change it.
The clock change is set for 2 a.m. in hopes that no one will notice the time change.
