“Wonder Woman” Watch Gal Gadot, Chris Pine in new trailer
Feminism is still (unfortunately) a confusing topic for some, but the new Wonder Woman trailer is the kind of fun, entertaining teachable moment that has the power the change even the most stubborn of minds. No invisible jet (not that we would see it anyway) but the trailers are certainly leaving some surprises for the film’s release, as some other spoilers we know about aren’t present here. One that’s worthy of celebration, but more importantly, one that needs to be told just right. That’s unique to her, and each character in the DCEU has an equally journey to take.
Bleeding Cool writer Joe Glass dissected the trailer, zeroing in on the line – apparently referring to Diana – “But she must never know the truth about what she is”. They’re all really different. Batman’s not even really super, he’s just awesome. The word “WONDER” features prominently, seemingly alluding to Diana’s curiosity about the land beyond her shores, usually coined as “Man’s World” on Themyscira. The Doomsday trailer of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice showed a ton of footage. Yes, the man who “originally breathed life into her”. Guess we’ll have to see the movie!
In a retelling of Greek Mythology, Wonder Woman establishes that the Amazons were created by Zeus as an army to battle Ares – the fearsome and brutal god of war. But if writer Greg Rucka’s recent clarification on her past relationships with women are carried through, we may just get the most refreshing twist on sexuality rather than a same-old heterosexual conclusion.
“It’s about helping mankind and being a symbol of all the things you could accomplish without war”.
The latest trailer for director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman has dropped during this evening’s Kids’ Choice Awards on Nickelodeon and it’s a mini origin story with a burst of super-powered energy courtesy of Diana’s indestructible armbands.
Still, not all of Diana’s time in “Wonder Woman” will be spent fighting.
