IPad Pro 2, iPad Mini 5 to Arrive in April 2017
Four identifiers have been popping up in data logs, but that doesn’t necessarily correspond to four new devices as WiFi and WiFi + Cellular iPads historically have different model numbers. Apple installs apps on its devices while testing them, and some of these apps are bound to support Fiksu’s tracking capabilities. Arguably maybe more, given that while it didn’t invent the tablet computer by a very long shot, it managed to make it a viable consumer category at a time when the only tablets sold were to very specific business niches. Additionally, there will allegedly be a bezel -less 10.9-inch model.
Recent rumors from other various sources have indicated that Apple will roll out three new iPad models in March. These as-yet-unannounced iPads were used to test a range of popular applications around Cupertino, running the latest iOS 10.3 beta and early builds of iOS 11 (via TechCrunch). That note indicated Apple planned to update the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, introduce a new model with a screen size somewhere between 10 and 10.5 inches, and debut a low-cost 9.7 inch version of the tablet in spring 2017. The report is particularly interesting given that we previously saw rumors pointing towards a new iPad rollout sometime in March. It’s also worth noting that the 2016 12-inch MacBook and the depressing refresh to the MacBook Air were both announced in March of a year ago, which is why fans are also likely to expect an update regarding the said gadgets around that time as well. The iPad, like the rest of the tablet market, has been suffering from a multi-year decline in sales. Apple sold 13.3 million iPads in the prior quarter, equivalent to $5.5 billion in revenue. This could be another sign the tablets are brand-new hardware and not dog-eared devices. A large handful of Apple fans have said it themselves that the amount of effort poured into developing the MacBook Pro does not justify the price hike for the laptop. And those slates were originally sold between 2010 and 2012.
