Kellyanne Conway Explains Microwave Oven Surveillance Remarks
Like Trump, who first accused Obama of wiretapping his phones back in March, Kellyanne provided no evidence for her claims that the former president had spied on Donald at Trump Tower before the election in order to monitor his campaign.
In an interview published Sunday, Conway said there was a wide variety of ways to spy on someone – including “microwaves that turn into cameras”.
On Sunday, Senator John McCain told CNN that Mr. Trump now has just two choices- retract the allegations or present the evidence to the American people.
The House Intelligence Committee has asked the White House to provide any evidence of the allegations by Monday – a deadline that it seems certain to not meet.
“The answer is that I have no evidence whatsoever and I am very pleased that the House Intelligence Commission is investigating”, Conway told ABC’s Good Morning America.
First, the idea that it’s Congress’ job to find evidence that the president claims he’s already seen is hard to take seriously. These articles detail how several ongoing investigations into Russia’s influence on the 2016 election conducted by the FBI, CIA, Justice Department, and others are reviewing evidence that Trump campaign officials had contact with Russian government officials.
CNN host Chris Cuomo pushed Conway on the issue, asking her why she even raised the use of household gadgets for surveillance purposes if it were not her intention to imply that Obama had done just that inside Trump Tower. “I wasn’t talking about anything specifically”, Conway told Stephanopoulos.
When pressed on the Today show to clarify her remarks, Conway insisted that she was referring to these wider claims and not Trump’s allegations against Obama. Given the inquisitive people that we are at Independent Journal Review, we chose to look into Conway’s startling claim. Her job isn’t the share evidence.
In the interview, which was recorded on video, Kelly asked Conway: “Do you know if Trump Tower was wire tapped?”
“So far, I don’t think the American people have gotten all the answers”, McCain said.
“It was about surveillance generally”.
Trump asserted in a tweet last week: “Terrible!”
Top Republican lawmaker and frequent Trump critic John McCain on Sunday challenged Trump to prove the wiretapping claim – or else retract it.
