Lions trade Mohammed Seisay to Seahawks
The Seahawks keep making moves to begin training camp, even while they are practicing.
Originally signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2006, McDaniel spent three seasons with the Jaguars before moving on to Miami and playing four seasons with the Dolphins (2009-12).
The Lions will reportedly receive a 2016 sixth-round draft pick from Seattle in return for Seisay.
Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports that the Seahawks have sent an undisclosed 2016 draft pick to Detroit in exchange for cornerback Mohammed Seisay.
He’ll likely look to get a foothold there for Seattle as well, and could factor in to the competition both on the inside and on the outside for the Seahawks. He started the season on the practice squad, but cornerback injuries led the Lions to put him on the active roster by Week 3. He played 30 snaps for Detroit last season (34.8-percent at RCB 32.6-percent at Slot CB, and 28.1-percent at LCB), and was more of a special teams/depth type of guy.
Seattle is also missing reserve cornerback Tharold Simon, a part-time fill-in starter last season. Tharald Simon had shoulder surgery. The draft pick going back to Detroit is expected to be a late-round selection. That’s the flip side of losing in free agency this spring starting cornerback Byron Maxwell (to Philadelphia) plus left guard James Carpenter (to the New York Jets), linebacker Malcolm Smith (to Oakland) and defensive end O’Brien Schofield (to Atlanta). Two of those should be third-rounders.
