So what’s in store in 2017?
For the uninitiated, teams in the tournament are split up into four regions and seeded from No. 1 to 16. He correctly picked the Tar Heels as the the national champions in his 2009 bracket – his first as president.

In the Southern region, North Carolina shouldn’t have too many problems in the first two rounds. Everybody wants to see Cinderella shine at the Big Dance, but it’s the Big Dogs who are nearly always celebrating at the end. A 12 seed has pulled an upset in all but two tournaments since 2004. VCU was a 10-seed and took down 7-seed Oregon State. This year, five double-digit seeds make it: FGCU, UNC Wilmington, East Tennessee St, Middle Tennessee and Rhode Island.
