NCAA Tournament: Day 1 recaps and highlights

“When that bracket shows up on Sunday night, we’re the only that that has played in back-to-back Elite Eights”. Brey thought back to another close call. Two years ago, we played, like, a three-point game against Northeastern. Don’t get mesmerized on a long possession and you cheat too much to a help situation. But we’ve been in so many of them, we really believe.

And it’s not the first time Devin Cannady has had the ball in his hands with the game on the line. Beachem managed just two points.

Despite his injury, Colson was the best player on the floor.

After another missed three, Colson posted up, drew a foul, and made both free throws to make it 59-54. Princeton responded with a bucket to pull within three, and had the ball with 20 seconds left after Farrell couldn’t connect on an elbow jumper. Notre Dame led 52-45 and was trying to reestablish control when Farrell threw a wild cross-court pass that sailed out of bounds. “We got to advance and play again”.

Matt Farrell led the way with 16 points, five assists, and two steals. Defensively, Notre Dame is yielding 69.2 points against the opposing teams.

The Princeton University men’s basketball team didn’t make it easy for Notre Dame. Vasturia pulled down the rebound, hit a free throw and Notre Dame escaped. If history is any indication, the Catamounts have a chance since they were also a 13-seed when they knocked off No. 4 Syracuse in 2005, the signature win in school history. “But I think he’s going to start turning it up”.
